LHS Band 2008 Spring Trip

Our marching band has been selected to perform in the Main Street Parade in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. The parade will be in the afternoon, and has traditionally stepped off at about 2pm.
Our plans are to depart in the very early morning hours of Sunday, March 16 (Palm Sunday) and to return on Saturday, March 22, the day before Easter. Students would miss March 17 and 18 at school as an excused field trip absence.
We have secured rooms at Disney's newer Pop Century Resort for our stay. We have always stayed at one of the three All-Star resorts in the past, and as Pop Century is at the same price point, we thought we'd request something new. When Keith and Michelle Prather first contacted WDW about this, representatives told them that they were hesitant to book a high school group, as they have tried to reserve Pop Century for families first. However, because of our many trips to WDW and the reputation of our students, they agreed to host us there. Again, the demeanor that our students display in our travels has served us well.
More details about the trip will follow, but as we have some families planning parallel trips to Orlando, I wanted to get this information out as soon as possible.
Please remember that the trip involves significant fund raising from individual band members, and that our trips are entirely optional. We have many students who don't go on every trip every year, and that is fine. Complete information and cost will be made available early this fall, with commitment forms expected sometime in October.
