Events, Fundraisers, & Trips

We recommend you refer to the parent handbook on the website for more information, but for general information on how our competitions, parades, and other events work, please see below. 

Competitions: Students are to arrive at school at report time as designated by the band director and usually communicated about a week out (we don't have final schedules for competitions much before that). They are transported by an FCPS bus to and from all competitions. Each bus has at least one staff member and usually one parent chaperone on it. Parent chaperones carry our first aid bag, medical permission slips, and basic supplies. 

Parades: Students also arrive at the school at a designated time and are transported by an FCPS bus to and from the parade location. As above the buses should have at least one staff member and likely one parent chaperone on them. 

FSK Mall: Students who participate in the Holiday Brass ensemble have performed at the Duet with Music at the FSK mall for several years. Students must SELF-TRANSPORT to the mall, dressed appropriately and with their instrument at the report time designated by the band director. 

Spring Trip: Students are transported by private motorcoach to our spring trip locations. There are usually several staff members and several parent chaperones on each bus. Report and departure times are determined by the band director and trip planners and will be communicated when known. 

There may be other offsite events scheduled throughout the year and any details will be provided by the band director.
